Erik Hanson
News Director KFMO/B104
Erik was born in the summer of '78 in Chicago. He grew up in the Chicagoland area until graduating high school, when he joined the Airforce in the summer of '96.
He was stationed at Elemendorf A.F.B. in Anchorage, Alaska for his entire tour. While in the Airforce, Erik specialized in water utilities systems and worked on everything from water mains to advanced fire suppression systems in aircraft hangers. Erik was also a member of the Elemendorf Honor Guard Team. While stationed in Anchorage, Erik got his first taste of radio when he stumbled into an 8 month intership at KFAT, Anchorage's number one station at the time. After completing his 4 year tour in the Airforce, Erik moved back to the Chicagoland area and took a job in banking.
Erik worked in banking and finance for 6 years. He specialized in mortgages and home equity loans during the housing boom, because... well... that's where the money was. Erik moved from Chicago to San Diego in 2005 because.... well... it's San Diego. Around this time, Erik figured out the economy was going to collapse and the bank products he was selling were not in his clients best interests, so he left banking in 2006. Erik moved back to Chicago in late 2006 for a new business opportunity, which took him to St. Louis. Erik was doing sub-contractoing work installing commercial displays and fixtures in stores throughout St. Louis; however the siren call of life in radio was always in the back of his thoughts as the job he loved, so after seeing billboards around St. Louis he called the Broadcast Center.
After completing the Professional Broadcasting Arts program at Broadcast Center, Erik took his first 'paid' job in radio as the Morning News Anchor for KFMO.
Erik lives in Farmington with his Wife and two daughters.
