Iron Mountain Lake, Mo. (KFMO) - The City of Iron Mountain Lake is officially without a mayor following a special meeting Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
The Board of Aldermen, which consisted of Crystal Clendenning, James Dake and Acey Moore at the meeting, accepted the resignation of Mayor Brenda Goodman.
Goodman reportedly "walked out" of the position earlier in the week.
The resignation left the remaining members of the board to determine how the city should proceed, including discussion of selecting a new mayor pro tem and board president.
A few residents attended Wednesday's special meeting and raised concerns about the board moving forward with those votes without first receiving clarification and guidance on the proper process.
Residents urged the board to table the items until the city could determine how to proceed.
The meeting became tense as the board discussed the situation.
During a closed session, Alderman James Dake walked out. Dake said he would not participate until he believed matters involving the board were "legal."
The meeting ended without a new mayor being selected, leaving Iron Mountain Lake without a mayor as city officials work to determine the next steps.
