Farmington, Mo. (KFMO) - Farmington City Light & Water is notifying customers of a system error that affected some recently issued utility bills.
Customers who received bills with due dates of September 15, 2026, or September 25, 2026, were affected by the error. A power rate adjustment was intended to be included on those bills, but the charge was inadvertently omitted due to a system error.
Farmington City Light & Water says its office is currently correcting the affected accounts. Customers will see the adjustment reflected on their accounts.
Power rate adjustments allow utilities to make periodic rate changes outside of general rate cases to recover or return actual purchased power costs. The city says this is standard practice for many utilities.
Customers who received bills with a September 5, 2026, due date were not affected by the error and will not see any difference on their accounts.
Farmington City Light & Water apologizes for any inconvenience the billing issue may have caused. Customers with questions about the adjustment can contact Farmington City Light & Water at 573-756-2620.
Customers who are having difficulty paying their utility bills may qualify for energy assistance through East Missouri Action Agency. To apply for assistance, call 573-431-5191 or visit eastmoaa.org.
