Governor Kehoe Visits Flood Command Post, Praises First Responders for Saving Hundreds of Lives

Iron Co., Mo. (KFMO) - Governor Mike Kehoe visited the flood response command post Saturday at Arcadia Valley Elementary School, where first responders and emergency personnel have been working around the clock following the devastating flash flooding that struck Iron and Reynolds counties.

During his visit, Kehoe met with emergency officials coordinating response and recovery efforts and thanked the many agencies involved in the operation.

According to the governor, the quick actions of local first responders, the Missouri National Guard, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Missouri State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Missouri Task Force 1, Missouri State Parks, the Missouri Department of Conservation, and numerous other partners resulted in hundreds of lives being saved during the flooding.

Emergency crews continue search, rescue, recovery, and damage assessment operations across the region as communities begin the long process of rebuilding after one of the most significant flooding events to impact southeast Missouri in decades.

State and local agencies remain on the ground providing assistance to residents affected by the disaster.
