Illinois Man Arrested in St. Francois County on Drug, Fleeing, and Fugitive Charges

St. Francois Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A Machesney Park, Illinois, man is facing multiple Missouri charges and is also being held on Illinois warrants following his arrest in St. Francois County over the Independence Day weekend.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 48-year-old Carlos J. Gonzales was arrested at approximately 2:40 p.m. on Saturday, July 4, in St. Francois County.

Gonzales is charged in Missouri with aggravated fleeing and first-degree tampering, along with possession of a controlled substance after authorities allegedly recovered approximately two grams of amphetamine.

In addition to the Missouri charges, Gonzales is being held on charges originating in Winnebago County, Illinois. Those allegations include fleeing, receiving, possessing or selling a stolen vehicle, theft, and disorderly conduct.

Gonzales was being held at the St. Francois County Jail on a 24-hour hold. Formal charging documents and additional details surrounding the arrest have not yet been released.
