Iron County Continues Long Road to Recovery Following Historic Flood Damage

Iron Co., Mo. (KFMO) - Recovery efforts continue across Iron County, as while crews are making significant progress repairing roads and bridges damaged by historic flooding, residents should expect recovery to take time.

The Iron County Road and Bridge Department continues working to repair roads and bridges damaged during the recent historic flooding.

According to Iron County Presiding Commissioner Jim Scaggs, county crews have been actively making major repairs throughout the county, but restoring the transportation system is a long-term process because of the extent of the damage.

Scaggs said Iron County experienced historic damage across the community, leaving many roads and bridges in need of significant repairs. While Road and Bridge Department crews have been working diligently to restore access and improve conditions, some projects require extensive work and cannot be completed quickly.

County officials say they appreciate the hard work of Road and Bridge employees and ask residents to remain patient as crews continue rebuilding infrastructure and making travel safer throughout Iron County.
