K9 Keno Receives Ballistic Protective Vest

Ste. Genevieve, Mo. (KFMO) - The Ste. Genevieve Police Department is recognizing a nonprofit organization for helping provide additional protection for one of its four-legged members.

K9 Keno has been awarded a ballistic protective vest through Protecting K9 Heroes, a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting working K9s throughout the United States.

Protecting K9 Heroes provides lifesaving equipment to working K9 teams, including ballistic protective vests, medical kits and other essential gear. The organization works to help ensure K9s have the protection they need while serving alongside their handlers.

The Ste. Genevieve Police Department says the vest provides K9 Keno with an added layer of protection as he works alongside Officer Harris to serve and protect the citizens of Ste. Genevieve.

The department expressed its gratitude to Protecting K9 Heroes and everyone who supports the organization’s mission.

Police say Keno plays an important role in protecting the Ste. Genevieve community, and the department says organizations like Protecting K9 Heroes help make it possible for the community to protect him in return.

The department also thanked those who support working K9s and recognize the risks these animals face while serving alongside their handlers.
