St. Francois Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A St. Francois County man is facing two felony charges, including attempted enticement of a child and failure to register as a sex offender.
According to court documents, the defendant is accused of attempting to solicit a person he believed was a thirteen-year-old boy to engage in sexual conduct.
The alleged activity occurred between August 15 and September 6, 2026 in St. Francois County. The probable-cause statement says the person identified as "Johnny," whose real name is Tim "Cody" Johnson, was masquerading as a thirteen-year-old boy.
Authorities allege the defendant invited the person to his home to have sexual intercourse. The complaint states that the invitation and alleged solicitation constituted a substantial step toward the commission of the offense of enticement of a child.
The defendant is also charged with failing to register as a sex offender.
According to the complaint, the defendant resided in St. Francois County and was required to register as a sex offender because of a prior federal conviction for sexual exploitation of a minor. Investigators allege he knowingly failed to perform the duties required of a registered sex offender by failing to report and register his Grindr social media account with St. Francois County's chief law enforcement official.
The attempted enticement charge is a felony under Missouri Revised Statute 566.151. The complaint states that a person convicted of the offense is subject to lifetime supervision and is not eligible for probation or parole for a period of five years.
The failure-to-register charge is a Class E felony under Missouri law.
Bond has been set at $200,000 cash or surety.
As conditions of bond, the defendant is ordered to appear at all court dates and participate in pre-trial monitoring. He must also submit to drug and alcohol testing upon request and provide prescription information to his bond supervisor.
The court also ordered GPS monitoring, with exclusion zones around the alleged victim's home and workplace. The defendant is to remain at his residence except for approved activities, including employment, medical or treatment appointments, meetings with his attorney or bond supervisor, and court appearances.
Additional conditions prohibit contact with the victim or witnesses, possession of firearms, ammunition or dangerous weapons, and operating a motor vehicle without a valid license.
