It is great sadness that we announce the passing of Brice Allen Barnes. His age was 89 years, 6 months, and 21 days. A beloved husband, father and mentor. He passed away peacefully at his home on June 20, 2026 with his beloved wife of 72 years by his side, Nancy Louise ‘Krauss’ Barnes and surrounded by his children.
He was born in 1936 to his parents, the late Obrie Brice Barnes and Alene ‘Scraggs’ Maiden. Also preceded in death by 3 sisters and 1 brother.
After he was married in 1954 to Nancy, they moved to St. Louis and he worked at the shipyards for 11 years. Then he went to work on the side for Boilermaker Local 27 and retired in 1997.
Together Brice and Nancy shared their life with 4 children – Howard Brice Allen Barnes (Debbie), Dale Wayne Barnes (Connie), Janet Louise ‘Barnes’ Gilliam (Butch) and Orbie Timothy Barnes (Rhonda). 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Brice was a dedicated family man and a supportive friend and respected by everyone who knew him. He worked as a Boilermaker. His whole life, making friends everywhere he went. He loved spending time with his wife and family. He loved fishing, hunting, sharing and making so many memories with his grandchildren and great grandchildren teaching them how to catch a fish and making dough balls. He was always being silly singing and playing his harmonica. He was a man of few words but when he spoke you listened, never sugar coated anything. He loved his family very much and was proud of all his kids and will be greatly missed by all of them.
He served as a Deacon at First Baptist Church of Bismarck, Mo. He loved the Lords and God was present in every moment of his life.
