Doe Run Company on Coming Remediation

(Desloge, MO) Officials with the Doe Run Company are getting the word out about remediation of lead effected areas in the Parkland and how a report form the Federal Environmental Protection Agency could cause more problems that it's designed to fix. A representative of the Doe Run Company, Jack Terry, spoke to members of the Desloge Chamber of Commerce at the group's Tuesday luncheon saying they feel the EPA's report is incorrect on blood lead levels and the whole approach could create more problems and cost more money.

According to Terry blood lead levels in St. Francois County are no different than what would be found in counties where no lead mining takes place. Terry urged those in attendance to let their voices be heard in regards to their wishes concerning what the EPA may require in remediation by contacting their legislators.
