Washington County Prosecutor Alleged DWI

(Potosi, MO) DWI charges are being pursued against Washington County Prosecutor, John Jones IV after a traffic accident that occurred in the early morning hours of July 5th of 2023. Police documents show the deputy covering the crash reported the accident without mention of any indicators for driving while intoxicated charges. The reports show the deputy didn't file for DWI charges because he feared retribution from the prosecutor's office and possible future investigations could be jeopardized. Documents indicate Jones allegedly smelled of intoxicants and had slurred speech moments after the wreck which destroyed a statue of a cross at the Rural Parish Workers of Christ building on Cannon Mines Road. Washington County Sheriff, Zack Jacobsen, tells KFMO B104 News he'll have to file a motion in court to have the case handled by another prosecutor. Stay tuned to KFMO B104 News for more information as it becomes available.
