Darlene Roper, 85, of Park Hills, Missouri passed away April 2, 2026.
She was born February 12, 1941 in Austin, Texas to her parents, the late Woodrow Laird and Florence ‘McKay’ Laird. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Dave Laird.
She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, James H. Roper,
3 daughters, Roxanne English and husband Greg of Greenville, South Carolina;
Julie Fenton and husband Robert of Mount Vernon, Missouri;
Toni LaBrot and husband Alan LaBrot of Park Hills, Missouri;
10 Grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren;
Sister-in-law, Pat Laird;
Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
Darlene was a loving wife and mother, full of wisdom and devotion. She was full of life and laughter and she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
After retirement from Southeast MO Mental Health Center, Darlene opened “The Party Place” in Leadington, hosting Birthday Parties and even creating her own puppet shows. She spent her life loving, caring, and bringing joy and light to so many others. She will be deeply missed.
Visitation Thursday April 9, 2026 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Horton-Wampler Funeral Home 1 Federal Park Ave., Park Hills, MO 63601.
Visitation will resume Friday April 10, 2026 from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.
Service Friday April 10, 2026 at 1:00 P.M. at Horton-Wampler Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Bond.
Burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Leadington, Mo.
