Edward Carl Daugherty, known to the family and friends as Skip, passed away peacefully at the age of 68, on May 12, 2026, surrounded by family and friends at St. Louis Christian Hospital.
Born on January 13, 1958, in Farmington, Missouri, he was the son of the late Melvin and Carlene (Penrod) Daugherty.
Skip was the owner and operator of a local winery and vineyard, where he had been growing grapes, raising nursery vines, and making wine since 1992.
Skip was an avid NASCAR, STL Cardinals, and STL Blues fan, and he was a Jeep enthusiast. Skip was also a member of the Elks Lodge. When time allowed, he also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed his dogs, Hootie and Squeaky.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents, sister Melinda (Daugherty) Moore, nephews; Adam Moore, Andrew Phillips, and Bradley Moore.
Skip is survived by his sons Travis Daugherty and Jesse Daugherty, sister Kim (Daugherty) Phillips, brother Daniel (Danny) Daugherty, and many other family members and great friends.
Skip will be remembered for the great local wine he made and sold at the winery, and as the "crazy grape farmer" always wearing denim overalls, ready for a good time to be had by all.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Coplin Funeral Home of Park Hills, Missouri is in charge of the arrangements.
