It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Thomas James David Steele, known and loved by many as Jim or Jimmy David.
At 57 years old, Jimmy David passed away after battling MRSA and pneumonia.
For more than 20 years, Jimmy David faithfully walked with Christ and devoted his life to ministering to others. For over 16 years, he preached and shared the Gospel with men in prison, mentoring countless people and pointing them toward hope, redemption, and the love of Jesus Christ.
He was deeply devoted to Scripture, even teaching himself biblical Greek and studying Hebrew so he could better understand the Word of God he loved so much.
Jimmy David leaves behind his beloved mother Shirley, his sisters Shannon, Kimberlie, and Stephenie, his daughter Hope, and many brothers and sisters in Christ whose lives were forever changed by his faith, wisdom, kindness, and unwavering love for the Lord.
Even in the midst of his own suffering, Jimmy David continued encouraging others in Christ. In one of the last letters he wrote to his sister Shannon, he reminded her to trust in God through suffering and to seek the Lord in every hardship. That was the kind of man he was. Even while facing pain himself, he was still pointing others toward faith, grace, and the comfort found in Jesus Christ.
We ask for your prayers for peace, comfort, and strength for everyone who loved Jimmy David as they walk through this tremendous loss.
A private service will be held by family at a later date. Coplin Funeral Home of Park Hills, Missouri is in charge of arrangements.
