BJC Now Allowing Minimal Visitation

(Farmington, MO.) Officials with Parkland Health Center are announcing BJC is relaxing its coronavirus regulations and will allow minimal visitation staring today. A press release from the organization indicates the revised policy will allow one visitor per patient in outpatient, inpatient and surgical settings, including medical offices and emergency rooms, with some exceptions for inpatient OB, pediatric and end of life patients, where the BJC policy currently allows two visitors. Visitation remains restricted for suspected or confirmed COVID19 patients, with some limited exceptions. Due to vulnerable and highrisk populations in health care settings, extra vigilance around safety and infection prevention will remain critical, even as some of these practices are beginning to relax elsewhere in the community. The new rules include all visitors submitting to a temperature and symptoms screening while adhering to universal masking requirements, patients come to the hospital by themselves and consider virtual visitors whenever possible, and visitors will sign in and out of inpatient units.
