St. Francois Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A residential structure was heavily damaged by fire early Monday morning in the 3500 block of Williams Road.
Doe Run Fire Protection District was dispatched to the fire at approximately 12:36 a.m. Monday, August 17. The Farmington Fire Department was the first arriving unit, followed by Doe Run personnel, and firefighters found the residential structure well involved in fire.
Relatives of the homeowner who were at the scene told firefighters that no one was home when the fire started.
Fire officials said the rural location presented challenges for fire apparatus, particularly getting equipment into and out of the property. Firefighters and apparatus operators worked through those challenges while battling the blaze.
After approximately two hours, the fire was brought under control and extinguished. Firefighters then completed overhaul operations before mutual aid units were released. Doe Run personnel remained on scene until approximately 5:45 a.m.
No injuries were reported among occupants or firefighters.
Mutual aid was provided by the Bismarck Fire Protection District, Desloge Fire Department, Farmington Fire Department, Wolf Creek Fire Protection District and Big River Fire Protection District.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Missouri Division of Fire Safety.
