Commission Approves Grant to Go Toward Body-Worn Cameras

St. Francois Co., Mo. (KFMO) - The St. Francois County Commission has given approval to the St. Francois County Sheriff's Department to apply for a grant going toward body-worn cameras.

The grant is for $50,000 and comes from the Missouri Blue Shield Grant Program, an executive order approved by Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe earlier this year. Lt. Mike Ryan says the cameras will assist in officer safety.

Commissioner Kary Buckley added that officers he had spoken to in the past all supported the wearing of body cameras. The grant is non-matching, and repeatable each year.
