Iron County Wreck Injures Five

(Iron County, MO.) An Iron County accident has three people recovering from serious injuries and two from moderate injuries after a head on crash that took place at 12:45 Wednesday afternoon. Highway Patrol reports show Elizabeth L. Wheeler was driving south on Highway 49, a mile south of Viburnum, when she lost control of her S.U.V. on a patch of ice in the road. The vehicle crossed over the center line and crashed into a Jeep driven north by 50 year old Erik E. Hancock, of Pocatello, Idaho. Wheeler Hancock, and a passenger in Hancock's vehicle 38 year old Genevieve M. Castillo received serious injuries and they were all flown to Mercy Hospital St. Louis. Two additional passengers in Hancock's vehicle, 86 year old Harold M. Ray of Potosi, and 52 year old Scott Moffatt of Corpus Christi, Texas, were moderately injured and taken to Phelps Health Center in Rolla.
