Jefferson Co, Mo. (KFMO) - Jefferson County Sheriff Dave Marshak is commending the members of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office for their work following a weekend marked by two separate deadly shooting investigations.
Marshak praised the professionalism and teamwork demonstrated by deputies and investigators as they responded to the incidents while keeping residents informed.
The first incident occurred Friday, when authorities say 41-year-old Christopher Serrano allegedly shot two people. A 24-year-old victim, identified as Sammy Gordon Jr., was pronounced dead at the scene, while his 51-year-old father survived. After an intensive search, Serrano was taken into custody Sunday, two days after the shooting.
The second incident happened Saturday night in House Springs. Investigators say 73-year-old Robert Winkelman allegedly shot 38-year-old Jessica Lashly and her 17-year-old daughter, Jersey Greer, following an altercation. Both victims later died from their injuries.
Authorities say Winkelman then shot himself as deputies confronted him. He remains in critical condition at a local hospital while in the custody of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.
According to Sheriff Marshak, the investigation into Saturday night's triple shooting remains active as detectives continue gathering evidence and working with the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.
