Major Tornado Damage in Several Counties

(St. Francois County, MO) Major damage reports in the Parkland continue today after at least 3 tornados touched down Sunday night. National Weather Service reports show there was a tornado south of Farmington, another near Fredericktown, and a third near St. Mary. Damage from the tornado near Farmington completely destroyed 25 to 30 homes and structures with another 25 to 30 severely damaged in St. Francois County alone. Many of those were on Possum Hollow Road and Highway OO south of Farmington. There was also damage along Old Fredericktown Road, F Highway around Coffman, and AA Highway. The Crown Brewery, housed in the old Coffman School building, sustained major damage to its grounds and buildings including having the roof blown off the brewery. Homes, and other structures, were also damaged or destroyed at Coffman. In Madison County homes, businesses, and other structures, were flattened in many instances. The Black River Electric Corporation Headquarters, off Highway 67 at Fredericktown, took a direct hit to the front of the building. Classes were canceled for Monday in the Marquand Zion and Fredericktown School Districts due to power outages. Thousands have been without power while crews work to restore electricity in the hardest hit areas. No fatalities, or serious injuries, have been reported in  St. Francois County.
