Next for 17 Year Old Accused of Hit and Run

(St. Francois County, MO) The next step for the 17 year old female accused of striking a 15 year old girl with a car, and then leaving the scene, will be to go before juvenile authorities. St. Francois County Prosecuting Attorney, Melissa Gilliam, says as of 2021 Missouri law says 17 year olds will be placed into the juvenile system.

Authorities say a 17 year old girl and a 15 year old girl were involved in a verbal altercation in front of the swimming pool in Columbia Park in Park Hills Wednesday afternoon, the 28th of July, just before 4 o'clock. The incident resulted in the 17 year old allegedly striking the 15 year old with an automobile causing serious leg injuries. It's also alleged the 17 year old driver left the scene of the accident however she turned herself over to police a short time later. Since the two are considered minors no names are being released.
