Potosi Man in Court on Arson Charge

(Potosi, MO) A man from Potosi, 45 year old Edward Clayton Robinson Jr., will have his initial appearance Tuesday, March 26th, in Washington County Court on charges of Arson in the 2nd degree and Property Damage in the 1st degree. The charges stem from a fire last Sunday, March 17th, at the old Napa Auto Parts Store. A probable cause statement from the Missouri State Fire Marshall's Office indicates Robinson was seen on surveillance video near the building. He was spotted on a game camera leaving the south side of the building at the location where the fire originated in a stairwell before the fire was reported. Robinson admitted he was dumpster diving in the alleyway close to the building during the time frame of when the fire took place. He was arrested and taken to the Washington County jail. Robinson, who has family in Ohio, also has a criminal history of arson in Ohio.
