Road Conditions and Weather Story

(St. Francois County, MO.) The latest hazardous weather outlook from the national Weather service indicates today and tonight we'll see bitter, record cold conditions. Wind chill
values in the single digits to just below zero will continue until shortly after daybreak, and only recover to 10 to 20 degrees this afternoon with highs only in the lower to upper 20s. Slick spots will continue on area roads early today, especially those that are untreated and in rural areas. Some improvement is anticipated today due to the sun, and road treatments. The Missouri Department of transportation's Traveler Information map shows most roads in the Parkland are partially covered with ice and snow. Law enforcement officials are warning drivers to slow down and take extra care in their morning drive. Our usual high and low temperatures for this day of the year are 58 and 40 degrees. This morning's temperatures hovered around 10 degrees. The prediction for today is a high of 23 with sunny skies. We should see a steady warming of temperatures over the next several days until we reach a high in the lower 50s Monday.
