(Park Hills, Mo) - With two confirmed cases of Coronavirus now in St. Francois County, the county's Health Department Executive Director Amber Elliot says she is strongly considering a Shelter in Home order for the entire county.
Elliot says she fully understands what type of hardship this could cause and the economic repercussions within the county, but in the end, she says it may have to happen. Elliot made her comments during an informational update on Facebook from the Health Department's offices in Park Hills. She did not give a timeline for when a Shelter in Place order would be given or a deadline for when it may or may not go into place.
Elliot says she has been in contact with St Francois County Commissioners as well as cities like Farmington and discussed the possibility of an order being put into place. Neighboring Jefferson County went under a Shelter in Home order earlier this week, with an expiration date of April 23rd. Typically under a Shelter in Home order, only essential travel to places like grocery stores, banks, and pharmacies (among a few other things) are allowed, and the order is enforceable civially. Essential businesses like grocery store workers, broadcasters, bank employees, pharmicists and others are allowed to travel during that timeframe for work purposes.
