St. Francois County High Speed Crash

(St. Francois County, MO) Four people are suffering injuries after a crash during a high speed chase involving St. Francois County Sheriff's Deputies Thursday night at almost 10:30 in Washington County. According to Highway Patrol Reports the accident took place as a car driven by a 16 year old male juvenile from Desloge was headed west on Route M in St. Francois County, 395 feet from Axle Road. A St. Francois County Deputy tried to pull the car over in regards to its exhaust dragging on the ground. The car began to speed off and ran off the road in a curve to the left. It rolled over and crashed into several trees. Debris from the crash struck the front of the Sheriff's Department vehicle. The injured include the 16 year old male juvenile driver who was seriously injured and a 17 year old female juvenile passenger who received moderate injuries. They were taken to St. Louis Children's Hospital. Two other occupants of the car were also injured including 18 year old Shayla M. Conover of Potosi, who was seriously injured, and 18 year old James A. Conover, of Cadet, who was moderately injured. Shayla Conover was taken to Mercy Hospital South at St. Louis and James Conover was taken to Washington County Memorial Hospital. The two juveniles were not wearing their seat belts during the crash while the Conovers were wearing theirs.
