St. Francois County Municipal Election Results

The unofficial results are in for several contested races and issues across St. Francois County municipalities in Tuesday's elections.
There was a tie for Bismarck Alderman in Ward 2 as Lochie Counts and Dustin Garling both received 35 votes. There are some options available to decide the winner including the possibility of a candidate bowing out of the race. KFMO B104 News will have more details as to the solution so stay tuned. In Ward 1 incumbent Ryan Wallis will retain his position.
In Desloge voters decided on Alvin Sutton for the position of Alderman of Ward 3.
Farmington voters approved the continuance of two quarter cent sales taxes on the ballot. One would be for transportation purposes while the other would be used for providing funding for storm water control and local parks in Farmington. The current tax expires October 1st of 2022 and that's when the continued tax will take effect.
Iron Mountain Lake voters elected Matthew Shane French as Mayor. In Ward 2 Anthony Gray was elected councilman. Jody Montgomery barely defeated David D. Manning for a two year term in Ward 3. Voters in Iron Mountain Lake did not approve obligation bonds in the amount of $500,000 for the purpose of constructing, extending, repairing, and improving streets, roads, and bridges in the city.
In the city of Leadington Debbie Matthews defeated Cassie Schrum for one of the city's aldermanic seats.
Leadwood voters approved the election of Randall Howard in Ward 2.
Park Hills voters placed Stacey Easter into the council position in Ward 2 and in Ward 4 incumbent Steve Weinhold won. Park HIlls voters did not approve the local use tax question that would have applied 2.75% sales tax to internet, out of state, vendor purchases of $2000 or more.
One county wide contested race saw John Clark win the position of Commissioner of Special Road District #2.
Of the 35, 263 registered voters in the county over 4500 ballots were cast accounting for nearly a 12.9% turnout. There were 856 absentee ballots cast in St. Francois County.
