Weather Service Saturday Tornado Report

(St. Francois County, MO) National Weather Service reports show a brief, weak, tornado caused minor damage, but no injuries, as it moved through St. Francois County late Saturday morning. Weather service officials say the tornado first touched down just west of Turley Mill Road at 10:20 Saturday morning. Cedar trees along Turley Mill were blown over and into the roadway. The tornado did minor structural damage to a home on the east side of Turley Mill and continued to move to the southeast, completely uprooting a large walnut tree. The tornado destroyed a well built swing set, lofting parts of it nearly 100 yards into a pond and a nearby treeline. It also destroyed a vinyl fence, and caused some minor roof damage to another home along Lober Farm Road. The tornado continued southeast, uprooting a couple of large trees as it moved towards Quail Run Road. Several large tree limbs were downed along part of Quail Run Road, before the tornado lifted as it approached State Route EE. The tornado was recorded as an EF0 event with a peak wind of 85 miles per hour. It's path was a mile long and 120 yards wide. The tornado lasted 3 minutes.  St. Francois County Emergency Management Director Nick Jones, and crew, helped provide information for the weather service survey.
