Gas Prices Climb Across U.S., Missouri as Drivers Feel the Impact

Washington, D.C. (KFMO) - Gas prices are on the rise across the United States, Missouri, and the Parkland region, with new data from AAA showing a sharp increase in recent days.

According to AAA, the national average for regular gasoline is now about $4.48 per gallon, marking a significant jump compared to just a week ago.

Missouri is also seeing increases at the pump. The statewide average for regular gas is now approximately $4.05 per gallon, up from around $3.72 just a week earlier.

Prices are running even higher across the Parkland, with the average price at $4.08 per gallon in St. Francois County.

AAA says the recent spike is being driven largely by rising crude oil prices and global instability, particularly disruptions in key oil shipping routes. Those factors have pushed fuel costs higher nationwide and are contributing to rapid week-to-week increases.

Experts note that gas prices tend to rise quickly when oil costs increase, but fall more slowly when conditions improve. With summer travel season approaching, demand is expected to increase, which could keep prices elevated in the weeks ahead.
