Washington, D.C. (KFMO) - The U.S. House of Representatives has voted to extend tax subsidies for Affordable Care Act plans for an additional three years, aiming to help lower health insurance costs for millions of Americans.
The measure received bipartisan support, with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries praising the bill as a necessary step to ensure continued access to affordable health coverage.
However, Republican Representative Jason Smith of Missouri criticized the legislation, blaming Democrats for the broader issues in the healthcare system.
The tax breaks are expected to benefit approximately 22 million Americans. Meanwhile, the Senate is considering an alternative approach to extending the subsidies.
