Bismarck Man Charged Following Shots Fired Investigation

Bismarck, Mo. (KFMO) - A Bismarck man is facing several felony charges following a reported shots fired incident early Monday morning.

According to the Bismarck Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 12:45 a.m. on March 23, 2026 to the 500 block of South Cedar Street for a report of shots fired and a subject possibly shot. Deputies with the St. Francois County Sheriff’s Office were also called to assist with the investigation.

Authorities say the victim fled the area for safety and was later located in Iron County by deputies there. Investigators determined the victim had not been struck by gunfire, however the victim’s vehicle was hit by bullets during the incident.

During the course of the investigation, Joshua Hoar was taken into custody and transported to the St. Francois County Jail, where he was placed on a 24-hour hold pending the filing of formal charges.

The following day, a warrant was issued through the St. Francois County court system. Hoar has since been formally charged with Assault in the First Degree or Attempted Felony, Armed Criminal Action, Discharge of a Firearm at or From a Motor Vehicle, Another Motor Vehicle, Person, Building, or Habitable Structure as a Persistent Offender, a second count of Armed Criminal Action, and Property Damage in the First Degree.

Bond for Hoar was set at $100,000 cash or surety.
