Pilot Knob, Mo. (KFMO) - The City of Pilot Knob is under a boil water advisory through at least Monday afternoon, April 27, 2026, following a water main break Thursday evening.
City officials say the advisory is a precautionary measure to ensure public safety while repairs are completed and water quality testing is conducted. Residents in the affected area are urged to take necessary precautions when using tap water.
During the advisory, all water used for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, or making ice should be boiled. Officials recommend bringing water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before use. Bottled water is also a safe alternative.
Additional safety tips include:
- Avoid drinking tap water without boiling it first
- Do not use ice made from unboiled water
- Use boiled or bottled water for washing fruits and vegetables
- When bathing or showering, avoid swallowing water
- Dishwashers are generally safe if they reach high temperatures, but hand-washed dishes should be rinsed with boiled water
Officials say the advisory will remain in place until water samples confirm the system is safe for normal use.
Residents will be notified when the advisory is lifted.
