St. Francois Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A Bonne Terre man was arrested Thursday night after a rollover crash in St. Francois County left an 8-year-old girl and two adults injured.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the crash occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. on June 18 on northbound Missouri Highway 221 north of Shy Road.
According to investigators, a 2021 Jeep Wrangler driven by 34-year-old Clint W. Penny of Bonne Terre traveled off the right side of the roadway. Troopers say the vehicle then overcorrected, crossed the center line, overturned and continued off the left side of the roadway before striking a fence. The Jeep came to rest on its left side and was declared a total loss.
Penny sustained moderate injuries and was transported by Air Evac 8 to Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. An 8-year-old female passenger and a 21-year-old female passenger, both from Bonne Terre, also suffered moderate injuries and were transported by the St. Francois County Ambulance District to Mercy Children's Hospital.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that none of the occupants were wearing safety devices at the time of the crash.
Following the investigation, Penny was arrested at 8:08 p.m. on patrol charges of driving while intoxicated resulting in physical injury and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. According to the arrest report, he was later released from Barnes Jewish Hospital.
