Potosi, Mo. (KFMO) - Construction has officially begun on the new Performing Arts Center at the Potosi R-3 School District, marking another milestone in the district's voter-approved bond improvement plan.
Superintendent Bryce Wilson says the project is one of the major initiatives made possible by the bond issue approved by district voters in April 2024.
In addition to the Performing Arts Center, Wilson says the bond issue also funded the purchase of new band uniforms, which are already in use by the district's music program.
The new facility is designed to serve more than just performing arts students. Plans include a 6,700-square-foot storm shelter that will provide a safe location for students, staff and community members during severe weather events.
The Performing Arts Center carries an estimated cost of approximately $14 million and is expected to be completed by December 2027.
