Jefferson Co. Mo. (KFMO) - Daniel “Todd” Mahn, a De Soto City Council member and owner of Mahn Funeral Home and Mahn Cemetery and Mausoleum, has been charged in Jefferson County in connection with alleged rape and sodomy.
Court records show a special prosecutor from the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office filed charges on Thursday, January 22, seeking either first-degree rape or second-degree rape, along with either first-degree sodomy or second-degree sodomy. First-degree rape and first-degree sodomy are unclassified felonies, punishable by five years to life in prison. Second-degree rape and second-degree sodomy are class D felonies, carrying a possible sentence of up to seven years in prison. A warrant for Mahn’s arrest was issued Friday, January 23. Prosecutors have requested a $100,000 cash-only bond.
According to charging documents, Mahn is accused of raping and sodomizing a woman on October 18, 2024. The investigation into the allegations began the following day. The De Soto Police Department took the initial report. The case was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control. It was later assigned to the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office on February 13, 2025, after Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney Trisha Stefanski requested the appointment of a special prosecutor.
55-year-old Mahn was elected to the De Soto City Council in April 2023. He was named mayor pro tem in November 2025 following a reorganization of the council after then-Mayor Rich McCane stepped down and Matt Franken became mayor.
The mayor pro tem presides in the mayor’s absence during council meetings. Mahn has previously denied any wrongdoing.
