Demolition Begins at Former Mineral Area Regional Medical Center Hospital Site

Farmington, Mo. (KFMO) - Demolition is now underway at the former Mineral Area Regional Medical Center in Farmington.

Pastor Dwight Jones of Harvest Christian Centre says the property was donated to the church in December of 2022. Since then, the church has attempted to market the site, but with little success.

After multiple unsuccessful efforts to sell or repurpose the property, Jones says the decision was made to remove the main hospital building.

Jones explains that while there was some asbestos and black mold found in the building, the primary reason for demolition was the high cost of securing the property and its lack of marketability.

Jones adds that Harvest Christian Centre is also working with the Veterans Administration and encourages the public to reach out to the VA to help bring services into one of the remaining buildings.
