Potosi Man Faces New Child Abuse Charges Following Investigation

Washington Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A Potosi man and convicted sex offender is facing new felony charges following an investigation into the sexual abuse of a juvenile.

According to information released by the Washington County Sheriff's Office, Rickey Dale Cain has been charged with two counts of Statutory Sodomy/Attempt – Deviate Sexual Intercourse with a Person Less Than 14 Years Old.

The charges stem from an investigation conducted by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau. Investigators determined the alleged sexual contact occurred between 2020 and 2025 and involved a juvenile victim who was known to the suspect.

Authorities say Cain is currently incarcerated within the Missouri Department of Corrections on a separate conviction for failing to register as a sex offender.

Officials also say Cain is being held on the new charges with no bond.
