East Missouri Action Agency Monitoring Impact of Federal Government Shutdown

Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - East Missouri Action Agency (EMAA) says it is closely monitoring the effects of the ongoing federal government shutdown and its potential impact on the agency’s programs and services.

Officials say all EMAA operations, including Community Services outreach offices, Head Start, and Housing programs, will continue to function as normal for the foreseeable future. The agency says it plans ahead each year to ensure services can continue even when funding sources are temporarily inaccessible. However, EMAA warns that if the shutdown continues for an extended period, it could eventually affect some federally funded programs the agency administers. Leaders say they would work to provide as much advance notice as possible should any interruptions occur.

The agency also acknowledged that many families and individuals are feeling the effects of the shutdown through programs like SNAP and WIC. While EMAA cannot fill those gaps directly, officials say they are committed to connecting customers with available local resources.
