Fenton Man Arrested on Drug Charges During Holiday Impaired Driving Campaign

St. Francois Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A St. Francois County deputy participating in the Holiday Impaired Driving Campaign arrested a Fenton man on drug-related charges following a traffic stop late Friday night.

According to the St. Francois County Sheriff’s Department, the incident occurred on Friday, December 12, 2025, at approximately 11:13 p.m. when a deputy observed a vehicle traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 67 and noted multiple traffic violations. During the stop, a St. Francois County K-9 unit was called to the scene and conducted a free-air sniff of the vehicle. The K-9 alerted positively to the presence of narcotics, prompting deputies to search the vehicle.

Authorities say the search resulted in the discovery of drug paraphernalia and approximately three ounces of suspected crystal methamphetamine. The driver, identified as Dennis Thompson of Fenton, was taken into custody on an active warrant issued by the Desloge Police Department for possession of dangerous drugs. Thompson also faces additional charges related to the suspected methamphetamine discovered during the traffic stop.

The incident remains under investigation, and formal charges will be determined by the St. Francois County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
