Ironton, Mo. (KFMO) - A structure fire damaged a preschool trailer at Arcadia Valley Elementary School Saturday morning.
At approximately 8:47 a.m. Saturday, January 31, 2026, the Ironton Police Department and Ironton Fire Department were dispatched to 700 Park Drive after receiving a report of smoke coming from a building east of the main school. When emergency crews arrived, they observed smoke and flames coming from the roof and south side of the district’s preschool trailer. Firefighters quickly knocked down the flames and conducted an interior attack to fully extinguish the fire.
Superintendent Dr. Brian Beard says crews acted quickly to contain the blaze.
The fire was contained to the preschool trailer and did not spread to the nearby main school building. The building housed two preschool classrooms, serving approximately 30 students total.
The Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office responded to the scene and determined the preliminary cause of the fire to be electrical in nature, originating from a heating unit on the south side of the building. No injuries were reported. The building is a total loss.
District officials say plans are already in place to accommodate students, noting that a new early learning child facility is currently under construction on the school campus and is expected to open by the start of the next school year.
