Highway Patrol Thanksgiving Fatality Report

(Jefferson City, MO) Highway Patrol officials are reporting eight people died in traffic crashes during this year’s Thanksgiving holiday counting period from 6 p.m. Wednesday, November 23rd, through 11:59 p.m. Sunday, November 27th. There were no boating crashes or boating fatalities. There were two drownings. During the Thanksgiving holiday counting period troopers report there were 414 crashes with 115 injuries and the 8 fatalities. There were 113 DWI arrests and 35 drug arrests.  Four of the traffic fatalities occurred in the Troop D, Springfield area; two of the traffic fatalities occurred in the Troop A, Lee’s Summit area; and one traffic fatality occurred in each of the Troop B, Macon and Troop C, Weldon Spring, areas. The two drownings took place November 26th at the Lake of the Ozarks.
