Inmate Death Reported at Potosi Correctional Center

Mineral Point, Mo. (KFMO) - An inmate at Potosi Correctional Center has died, according to the Missouri Department of Corrections.

Officials say 22-year-old resident Cody Armistead was pronounced dead at 7:54 p.m. Sunday, February 15, 2026, at the facility in Mineral Point. Armistead was serving a 34-year sentence for first-degree murder and abandonment of a corpse stemming from a case in Phelps County. Armistead entered the Missouri Department of Corrections on February 3, 2023. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause of death.
