Inmate Dies at Potosi Correctional Center

Potosi, Mo. (KFMO) - An inmate at the Potosi Correctional Center has died, according to the Missouri Department of Corrections.

Officials say 48-year-old Ronald Halkmon was pronounced dead at 11:44 a.m. Saturday, January 17, 2026, at the correctional facility in Mineral Point. Halkmon was serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole for multiple convictions out of St. Louis City, including first-degree murder, first-degree burglary, first-degree assault, three counts of armed criminal action, and first-degree robbery. He entered the Missouri Department of Corrections on May 21, 1996.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
