Inmate Dies at Potosi Correctional Center

Potosi, Mo. (KFMO) - Officials with the Missouri Department of Corrections say resident Jeramie Charlton was pronounced dead at 6:56 a.m. on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at Potosi Correctional Center in Mineral Point. 

According to the Department of Corrections, Charlton was 33 years old and was serving a 10-year sentence. His convictions included second-degree burglary, first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle from Marion County, and two counts of second-degree assault involving a special victim from Ralls County.

Records show Charlton was received into the Missouri Department of Corrections on March 9, 2020.

Authorities say an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
