Jefferson Co., Mo. (KFMO) - Jefferson County 9-1-1 Dispatch announced Tuesday it has officially gone live with its new Next Generation 911 (NG911) system.
Powered by AT&T and Intrado, the upgrade moves the county’s emergency communications to an IP-based platform, improving speed, accuracy, and reliability in handling emergency calls. Chief John Whitehead said the change marks a major step forward for public safety in the county.
“Upgrading to NG911 ensures that our residents can count on faster, more reliable service when they need it most,” he said. The new system enhances location accuracy, strengthens redundancy, and positions Jefferson County for future advancements in emergency communication technology.
Officials say the transition highlights their commitment to ensuring no call for help ever goes unanswered.
