Jefferson Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A Jefferson County man has been sentenced to 200 years in federal prison for producing and distributing child sexual abuse material.
U.S. District Judge Henry E. Autrey on Monday, February 2, sentenced 31-year-old Jason Levi Meyrand to the prison term and also ordered him to pay $6,000 in restitution to his victims. Meyrand pleaded guilty in August to four counts of production of child pornography.
According to court documents, he admitted to sexually abusing two children in 2022 and sharing images of that abuse in a group devoted to child sexual abuse material on the social media application Kik. The investigation began in January 2023 when a detective with the North Carolina Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force identified a post made by Meyrand in the Kik group.
During sentencing, Assistant U.S. Attorney Colleen Lang told the court that Meyrand committed the federal offenses approximately six months after completing a state prison sentence for sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl. In 2014, Meyrand was convicted in Bates County, Missouri, of child molestation and endangering the welfare of a child.
The 200-year sentence ensures Meyrand will spend the rest of his life in federal custody.
