Leadwood, Mo. (KFMO) - The Leadwood Fire Protection District has received a significant donation of emergency drinking water to support firefighter safety and operations during extended emergency response incidents.
More than 2,300 cans of water have been delivered to the district through a partnership between Anheuser-Busch, National Volunteer Fire Council, and Grey Eagle Distributors, Anheuser-Busch’s local wholesaler partner.
Officials say the donation will play a critical role in keeping firefighters hydrated while responding to wildfires, brush fires, and other emergencies that often require long hours in difficult and dangerous conditions.
The Leadwood Fire Protection District serves roughly 3,000 residents across a 25-square-mile area in southeastern Missouri. In addition to its primary coverage area, the district also participates in a regional mutual aid network spanning approximately 500 square miles and is part of Missouri’s statewide mutual aid system.
On average, the department responds to around 450 calls each year, with wildland and brush fires representing a major operational challenge due to the rural landscape and nearby forests and conservation areas.
Officials say the donation to the Leadwood Fire Protection District is part of that broader mission to ensure first responders have the tools and support they need when disaster strikes.
