MAC President Receives Regional Leadership Award

Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - Mineral Area College President Dr. Joe Gilgour has been named the 2025 Central Region Chief Executive Officer Award recipient by the Association of Community College Trustees.

The honor was presented October 24 during the ACCT Leadership Congress in New Orleans. The award recognizes Gilgour’s leadership in expanding educational access and improving student success across the region. Since taking the helm in 2019, he has overseen campus expansion efforts, strengthened workforce and technical training programs, and led initiatives to boost enrollment and retain students.

His administration has also worked to support fair compensation and develop a strong workplace culture. The MAC Board of Trustees noted that Gilgour’s approach has increased funding opportunities, broadened academic and career offerings, and reinforced the college’s role in regional economic development.

This marks Gilgour’s second national recognition this year. He was also named CEO of the Year by the American Association of Community Colleges in April.
