MACOA Opens 45th Season with 'Godspell' This Weekend in Bonne Terre

Bonne Terre, Mo. (KFMO) - The Mineral Area Council on the Arts is kicking off its 45th season this weekend with a new production of the classic musical Godspell, celebrating friendship, hope and the power of community.

Mineral Area Council on the Arts Executive Director Tiffany Gallaher says audiences are in for a beautiful performance.

Presented by Theatre United, Godspell is based on the Gospel according to St. Matthew and follows a diverse group of individuals who come together through storytelling, music and shared experiences. The production features some of the musical's best-known songs, including Day by Day, Prepare Ye, and All Good Gifts.

Performances are scheduled for Saturday, August 8, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, August 9, at 5 p.m. at the North County High School Performing Arts Center, located at 1000 Raider Drive in Bonne Terre.

Doors open 30 minutes before each performance, with general admission seating available on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets are $15.

Audience members will also have the opportunity to support the Wrapped in Love Community Heart Project during the performances. A $5 donation sponsors a handmade crochet heart that will be displayed during Godspell. Proceeds from the project will benefit both Theatre United and Big Door Coffee House's future Community Center.

The production officially launches MACOA's 45th Season: The Art of Community, highlighting the organization's continued commitment to bringing live arts and community engagement to the Parkland.
