Man Wanted in Illinois Homicide Found Dead After Traffic Stop Attempt on I-55 in Perry County

Perry Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A man wanted in connection with a homicide in Belleville, IL., was found dead early Sunday morning in Perry County.

Sheriff Jason Klaus says deputies were alerted around 1:23 a.m. to a silver Chevrolet Impala traveling southbound on Interstate 55 that was wanted in the Illinois investigation. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle near the 138-point-6 mile marker when they observed a gunshot from inside the car. Officers found the driver, identified as Christopher Boyd, deceased. No one else was inside the vehicle. Authorities believe the gunshot was self-inflicted. The incident follows a deadly shooting Saturday night in Belleville that left one woman dead and another injured.
