Jefferson City, Mo. (KFMO) - Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe declared a State of Emergency Thursday as a precautionary step to prepare for hazardous winter weather expected to impact much of the state this weekend.
The executive order allows the state to mobilize resources quickly and activates the Missouri National Guard to assist with state and local response efforts if needed. Governor Kehoe said the approaching storm is expected to be a significant weather event for large portions of Missouri and urged residents to avoid travel unless absolutely necessary.
By declaring a State of Emergency, state agencies are positioned to respond rapidly and provide support to local communities as conditions worsen. Kehoe is asking Missourians to stay informed, plan ahead, and use extreme caution during what could be a dangerous period of winter weather across the state.
